To get a better idea of the kinds of information and topics that members were interested in and to guide the group in developing programs and initiatives, the steering committee administered a survey in  2015. Below are the topics and survey results.

Priority of Activities

The highest interest for priority activities offered through the coalition are:

  1. Sharing information on the NYCSHE Listserv
  2. Posting events on the NYCSHE Calendar
  3. NYCSHE Website
  4. Exchanging outreach materials (posters, brochures, etc.)
  5. Best practices/case study repository

Potential Activities and Resources

Usefulness of the NYCSHE coalition to offer activities and resources for education, in order of priority are:

  1. Creating/implementing a sustainability plan
  2. Minimizing waste
  3. Green purchasing
  4. Incorporating sustainability into the curriculum
  5. Operations and maintenance
  6. incorporating sustainability in campus strategic plan
  7. Reducing energy systems
